ALASKA COMICON COMING TO FAIRBANKS IN 2020
Fairbanks, AK – The first-ever Alaska ComiCon will be coming to the Carlson Center in Fairbanks on February 22-23, 2020. The con will combine the best of comics, pop culture, and cosplay with a unique Alaska flair. Fans of all ages are invited to join the fun and meet celebrity guests Austin St. John (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Grey DeLisle-Griffin (Scooby Doo), Ben Templesmith (Artist: 30 Days of Night), Dan Parent (Artist/Writer: Archie, Die Kitty Die), and more to be announced!
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring this event to Fairbanks,” said Brett Carreras, Alaska ComiCon co-founder. “This will be a perfect weekend outing for fans and families, and I suspect many hard-working cosplayers are already planning their costumes for February.”
For the uninitiated, a comicon is an event for fans of comics, toys, TV, film, art, gaming, and all other things considered ‘nerdy.’ It’s a great place to meet with actors, comic book creators, and other fans.
“I can’t wait to see the Northern Lights and meet all of the fans in Fairbanks,” said celebrity guest and original Power Ranger Austin St. John.
Alongside the celebrities and artists, there will be vendors, discussion panels, and other related events taking place at the con. Alaska ComiCon will also feature a costume contest each day to find the best cosplayers in Interior Alaska. Registration fees start at $19.95 with discounts for students, military, and early registration.
“We couldn’t have picked a better venue than the Carlson Center for our inaugural event in Fairbanks,” said Ben Penrod, Alaska ComiCon’s other co-founder. “Along with the folks at Explore Fairbanks, we’ve had such a great welcome so far and we can’t wait to bring this amazing event to the Golden Heart City.”
