2nd Annual Summerfest Presented by Mt. McKinley Bank

2nd Annual Summerfest presented by Mt. McKinley Bank. We turn the Carlson Center into a beach oasis in the middle of winter! Movie night, yoga, family fun day, a corn hole tournament and Saturday night beach party highlight the event!

Advance tickets are available at the three Fairbanks Mt. McKinley Bank locations, Gene’s Chrysler Dodge on Cushman Street, and the Carlson Center Box Office.

Here are all the event details with admission prices:


MOVIE NIGHT ON THE BEACH (7:00 – 9:00 P.M.):

On Friday evening, January 25th, Sourdough Fuels will host movie night on the beach featuring a classic film both parents and kids will enjoy. The Little Giants will be on the big screen beginning at 7:00 p.m. with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. and concessions will be available. Bring your beach towels and chairs for a movie viewing unlike anything in Alaska! Tickets for this event cost $5 and children under the age of 2 are free.



YOGA ON THE BEACH (10 – 11 A.M.):

Connect with your inner self and kick start or maintain your physical fitness for 2019. Maybe you’ve done Yoga before, but have you ever done it on the beach?! In partnership with TRAX Outdoor Center Yoga instructors, we will host Yoga on the beach from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Arrive early to get your space! Bring your own mat. Cost is $10 per adult, $5 for kids age 12 and under and is an all ages event. Doors will open at 9:15.

FAMILY FUN DAY (12:00 – 6:00 P.M.):

Saturday January 26th from noon – 6:00 p.m. will be our family fun day event. We will feature performances on the stage from community organizations. If your group wants to perform, please contact the Carlson Center to set up your performance time. There will be games set up by all the sponsors of the event with great prizes that can be won including tickets to the upcoming PAW Patrol Live! taking place June 8th and 9th as recently announced by the Carlson Center and VStar Entertainment. Families can play beach volleyball, giant jenga, and a variety of other activities will be available. Tickets for this event cost $5 and children under the age of 2 are free.

Schedule of stage performances:

1:00 – 1:45: Mike Bork – Mike Bork will be playing Ukuelele and ending with a group Laughter Exercise. He is a man of many talents and owns Laughtership LLC

2:00 – 2:45: Mokupuni Moana Aku’ – United by our military, We are a diverse group of people sharing the Asia Pacific heritage. Our dances range from hula, Tahitian, samoa, Chamorro and other Polynesian dancing . We have kids as young as 3 and up to adults.

3:00 – 3:45: Golden Heart Performing Arts – Aerial Silks artist perform 20+ feet in the air showcasing flexibility, strength and skill.

4:00 – 4:45: Far North Jumpers – Far North Jumpers is a competitive jump rope team based out of North Pole, AK. Our team does performances, workshops, and travels to competitions.

5:00 – 5:45: DJ Double X – Music that makes you move. Dance, electro, reggae, top 40, hip hop.


Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday January 26th will be a corn hole tournament taking place inside the Pioneer Room at the Carlson Center. Participants do not need tickets to Summerfest to participate in this event. There will be a singles tournament ($25 per entry), and a doubles tournament ($45) playing a double elimination tournament. There will be a maximum of 24 teams in each event. A ‘practice session’ will be available on Friday night while movie night is going on. Registrations can be picked up at Carlson Center box office and are available on the Carlson Center website. Participants can also register on Friday night or Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m.



Saturday night, January 26th, will feature a beach party with live music from the Shot Time Band. In between sets patrons will be selected for the Gene’s Dodge Dice Roll. Eight finalists will get the chance to roll the dice and if anyone spells out D-O-D-G-E, they will win a car of their choice up to $45,000 in value from Gene’s Chrysler Dodge. Advance entries and tickets to the party are available at Gene’s Chrysler Dodge. Tickets for this event are $15 and is it an age 21+ event, unless accompanied by parent or legal guardian.

GENE’S D-O-D-G-E DICE ROLL (In between sets at the beach party):

Need a new car for 2019? How about a $45,000 Dodge Ram or Charger. Well here’s your chance. We’re selecting eight (8) individuals to be finalists for the dice roll. How do you get selected? You need to go to Gene’s Chrysler Dodge (3400 South Cushman Street) and fill out an entry form. It is free to enter and no purchase is required other than you need to purchase a ticket to be at the Beach Party. But you must fill out a form there before Summerfest. While you’re there… get your Summerfest tickets! They’re on sale. You must be present at the Beach Party to be selected so you can roll the dice, and win. Spell out D-O-D-G-E with the five over sized dice and you win $45,000 to apply towards ANY car on the lot.
