Eighteen dump truck loads of sand will turn the Carlson Center into a beach oasis in the middle of winter

Fairbanks, AK, January 10 – Winters can be dark, cold, and long days for residents of Fairbanks and many Alaskan’s choose to vacation in more tropical locations this time of year. For that reason, on January 25th and 26th the Carlson Center is bringing the beach to Fairbanks for the second consecutive year!

Eighteen dump truck loads of sand, palm trees, and a stage with indoor temperatures of around 70 degrees (likely to be more than 100 degrees warmer than it is outside!) will allow patrons to toss off their shoes and let their toes roam through the sand while they enjoy a movie night, family fun day, beach games, a Sat night party with live music and a chance to win a $45,000 vehicle!

The event is presented by Mt. McKinley Bank with support also provided by Sourdough Fuel, Gene’s Chrysler Dodge, Arctic Man, TRAX Outdoor Center, Tanana Valley Fair and PAW Patrol Live!

Advance tickets can be purchased at any of the three Mt. McKinley Bank Fairbanks locations, at Gene’s Chrysler Dodge, and at the Carlson Center box office. Here are details of all the weekend festivities:
